SALARY SCALE: D4 - (P175, 224 – P193, 452) per annum.

QUALIFICATIONS
To be considered for appointment to this position, candidates must have a Diploma or Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering or any related field.
EXPERIENCE:
A minimum of six (6) years relevant work experience in Occupational Health and Safety related duties as well as at least two (2) years experience as Health and Safety Officer I – C1.
MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
To monitor compliance to the conditions of employment in the workplace with regard to the safety, health and welfare of workers.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:
INSPECTIONS (Factories and Plant)
• Inspects factories and plant to ensure that equipment, materials and production process do not present a safety and health hazard to employees and employers.
• Inspects and tests machinery and equipment such as lifting devices, compressors, boilers etc. to make sure they meet safety standard.
• Conducts incidental spot checks of health, safety and welfare standards in factories to ensure compliance.
• Conducts investigations on accidents in factories, construction sites and other workplaces.
• Advises employers/ employees on safe work practices, safety standards and regulations.
• Attends to customer queries
HEALTH AND SAFETY
• Conducts health and safety audits to ensure compliance with set standards.
• Checks and makes follow-ups on adherence to compliance recommendations made during inspections.
HYGIENE MONITORING
• Identifies and tests work areas for potential accidents and health hazards, such as toxic fumes and explosive gas and air mixtures.
• Ensures that personal protective equipment is used in workplaces according to regulations.
PUBLIC EDUCATION
• Conducts training sessions on health and safety for clients.
